Son of a mobster, Detective Sergeant Rick Hunter finds it difficult to keep a partner. The Captain assigns Hunter a new partner, but Hunter has another maverick in mind, Sergeant Dee Dee McCall. Hunter and McCall team up to catch a serial killer.

Hunter & McCall make a pact of protectiveness and loyalty toward each other when she is nearly killed by her old partner after she tries to stop him from a killer-for-hire assignment.

The Hot Grounder

After the Commissioner's wife is murdered, Hunter and McCall have to piece together the clues in order to find the true killer.

4 - A Long Way From L.A.

Air Date: October 26, 1984

A meek "pick-pocket" is accused of brutally beating a woman. Hunter and McCall unconvinced that he could do such a thing have to find the true culprit before it's too late.

A mobster's girlfriend overhears gunshots after an argument between her boyfriend and his father. Hunter, unable to prove anything with her testimony decides to use her as bait to lure her boyfriend in.

Air Date: November 9, 1984

Hunter and McCall help a small girl who claims her uncle just died and all of his pigeons had been stolen. Upon further investigation into the missing pigeons, Hunter and McCall discover that the girl's uncle was killed.

Pen Pals

7 - Pen Pals

Air Date: November 16, 1984

A notorious drug dealer is killed by a thief who stole Hunter's "backup" gun, returning it immediately after the killing. With Hunter locked up in jail with an inmate planning on killing him, McCall must catch the true killer to clear Hunter's name.

Dead or Alive

Air Date: November 30, 1984

A bounty hunter tracking two bank robbers crosses paths with Hunter and McCall. After initially letting the bounty hunter go, Hunter and McCall come to realize there is more to pursue.

High Bleacher Man

9 - High Bleacher Man

Air Date: December 7, 1984

Hunter and McCall are assigned to protect a sleazy criminal, who has been given immunity for fingering a top criminal. Outraged at having to protect him, Hunter and McCall set out to find someone else who can finger the top criminal.

The Shooter

10 - The Shooter

Air Date: January 4, 1985

A motorcycle cop is killed by a man on a "nighthawk." Upon further investigation, Hunter and McCall discover the killer may have been motivated by a dispute over a western shootout game at a bar.

The Garbage Man

Air Date: January 11, 1985

A parole officer is killed one night after meeting with a parolee. When the parolee confesses that he was not the killer, Hunter and McCall must track down a killer who has been shooting parolees.

The Avenging Angel

A mentally disturbed surveillance expert attempts to "help" Hunter by killing a suspect and a witness. McCall is kidnapped when the surveillance expert is unhappy that Hunter does not approve of his actions.

A cocaine dealer being escorted by an obnoxious detective escapes. Hunter and the detective pursue her, meanwhile, McCall goes undercover to bring down a drug lord.

The pursuit of the cocaine dealer continues and the plot thickens as Hunter and McCall find their cases colliding.

The Beach Boy

15 - The Beach Boy

Air Date: April 6, 1985

The Beach Boy arrives in L.A. from Hawaii and begins to kill local drug dealers. Hunter and McCall have to figure out his next move before another victim is claimed.

Hunter and McCall go after a convicted murderer who is back out on the street and has vowed to kill the jurors who convicted him.

The Last Kill

Air Date: April 20, 1985

Hunter and McCall go after a contract killer who is making hits throughout the city in order to ingratiate himself with a criminal kingpin in order to kill him.

Fire Man

18 - Fire Man

Air Date: May 4, 1985

Hunter and McCall are brought in to help solve an arsonist/murder case. Someone has been setting fires all over the city to empty warehouses.

Sniper

19 - Sniper

Air Date: May 11, 1985

Hunter and McCall go after a sniper who is killing blondes that remind him of his wife who jilted him 18 years ago. Meanwhile, the Police Department personnel is being audited by a most efficient IRS Agent.
