1 - London

Alan starts his journey in London at St Paul's Cathedral, where he visits a place tourists never go, before exploring a hidden park and a little-known church. He also gets a guided tour of Soho from broadcaster Danny Baker.

2 - Brighton

Alan tours the less-celebrated sights of Brighton, beginning by visiting the Toy and Model Museum to look at its collection of model trains. He then discovers a boutique that sells a variety of unusual items, before taking a glimpse behind the scenes at the Royal Pavilion.

3 - Bristol

Alan is in Bristol, where he learns about a grisly secret at the docks. His journey then takes him deep underground in Clifton.

4 - Liverpool

Alan makes his way to Merseyside on a voyage of discovery in Liverpool. He visits a recording studio hidden in a bar and one of the country's swankiest toilets.

5 - London

Alan is back in London as he walks from one iconic market to another. He also meets Larry Lamb.

6 - Newcastle

Alan is in Newcastle where he finds out more about the hidden gems of this great north eastern city. He talks to Peter Beardsley and Sarah Millican along the way.

7 - Dublin

Alan makes his way to Dublin where he manages to succumb to the city's famous charm. He also has a drink with Sharon Corr and learns about a mystery in Ireland's oldest library.

8 - Glasgow

Alan is in Glasgow where he begins at the Necropolis. His journey then takes him from the world's oldest music hall to tea with a film star.
